WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO??

Our goal is the support of the relief effort undertaken by the Zanzibari Government and other relief agencies involved, however, we will not be disbursing our money through those channels.

Instead, we are currently investigating those sectors and areas where assistance is urgently required, talking with those agencies that can assist us with the most effective and direct responses. We have highlighted three key areas as starting points, as follows:-

Emergency Relief – Provision of emegency requirements to victims and families currently displaced, injured or searching for loved ones. Resupply of exhausted stock to hospitals, clinics and relief agencies. Assistance with accommodation and relocation of displaced families and individuals.

Family Support – The traditional Swahili custom of assisting with the funeral arrangements of dead family members, understanding how to contribute to the payment of tuition and livelihood for those who have lost their principal earners, finding families for orphans.

Agency Disbursement – At the end of the first week, we will accept applications from reigstered Zanzibari NGO’s looking to provide medium to long-term community support for those affected by the tragedy. Applications will require budgetary planning, sustainable goals and ongoing auditing by SaidiaZanzibar.
